A family of five buys and moves into a ghost town to build a unique Western-themed town to create a residential and commercial community. The disappearance of the town’s inhabitants by then had become a long-standing mystery for years. However, as the family progress in the renovation and construction of the town, from the construction workers who had worked in the town while it was inhabited, the family gradually learns more details about the disappearance of the town inhabitants.
Along the way, the family experiences high strangeness in one particular house located at the far end of the town. With the help of a paranormal team, they discover an ancient portal that has been sealed to contain imprisoned dark forces whose prime aim is to inhabit souls and live through their physical persona to realize their freedom. The father, skeptical of the story and eager to expedite the construction work, decides to dig anyway and in the process inadvertently exposes the seal to the portal. The result however this time, was the return of the lost souls of the town as zombies. Suddenly they appeared in the town believing they never left and were in fact living the day of their disappearance.
The bad and the ugly: The director, Thomas Varga offered us a storyline that was slow to develop and the zombie factor should have been more subtle and unconvincing to give the story some depth. Furthermore, the acting was over the top creating unnecessary emphasis.
The good: The antagonist in the film was shielded from the audience until revealed deep into the storyline, along the way teasing the audience with elusive hints peppered throughout the film. The final reveal quickly becoming an international meme overnight when used to parody John Boyega’s BAFTA speech.
'Where the Future Leads' was a huge disappointment! It was supposed to be an exciting and innovative take on the genre, but instead it was a dull and uninspired retread of ideas from other movies. The plot was predictable, the characters were one-dimensional and the special effects were subpar. The entire experience felt like a waste of time and money.
I couldn't get into this movie at all. 😡😡 The characters were one-dimensional and the dialogue was cheesy. It felt like the filmmakers were trying too hard to be cool and edgy.
This movie was a snooze fest. The pacing was slow and the action scenes were lackluster. I was hoping for something more engaging and thrilling. 👎👎👎
